October Community Recap and Upcoming Events

October was a busy month for Ironclad's community! We hosted two Community Dinners for in-house counsels at a private home in Venice, and at the historic Sunday House in Austin. In Venice, DJ Daiana spun soul and funk overhead as guests enjoyed a feast in one of the first conventionally constructed LEED Platinum houses in California. For the latter event, most attendees were in town for the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC)'s Annual Meeting. A mix of lawyers representing retail, advertising, and tech companies across the US dined and connected over a delicious menu featuring sous vide jalapeño hangar steak in Austin's second oldest building, the Sunday House, at the Moonshine Bar & Patio....

Rooftop Law School: The Case of the Unforced Error

On August 23rd, Luis Bacalao, Assistant General Counsel at Khosla Ventures, presented his fourth baseball themed Rooftop Law School session by recounting the case of a Nolan Ryan rookie card that was "mistakenly" sold to a 12-year old boy for $12.00 instead of $1,200. The store owner subsequently sued the boy for $1,188 to make up the difference. The discussion led with this question: Is a contract voidable in the case of a unilateral mistake?...
